Privacy

Paper Thoughts stores your journals in your own iCloud account. I have no servers, no accounts, and no way to read anything you write.

What I collect

Nothing. The app has no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party services. Your entries, photos, and locations sync through iCloud using Apple's infrastructure, under Apple's privacy policy and your iCloud settings.

Features that touch sensitive data

Everything below stays on your device or in your iCloud. None of it reaches me.

• Location. If you turn on location tagging, the place you wrote an entry is saved with that entry, and nowhere else.
• State of Mind. If you log a mood on an entry, it's saved to Apple Health on your device. I never see it.
• App Lock. Face ID and Touch ID run entirely on your device through Apple's frameworks. Biometric data never leaves it.

Purchases

Premium subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled by Apple through your App Store account. I never see your payment details. Apple reports only anonymous, aggregate sales.

This website

No cookies, and no tracking of you. I count page views with Cloudflare's cookieless analytics, which shows me anonymous totals, like which pages get read and what countries visits come from. It can't tell me who you are, and if your browser blocks it, the site works exactly the same.

If you send feedback through the form on the support page, I store the message you write, and your email if you add one, so I can read it and reply. If you ask to join the beta, I store the name and email you give me, and email them to myself, so I can send you an invite. Both are kept in a private database in Canada, used only to reply to you or invite you, and never sold or shared. That's the only information this site collects, and only when you choose to send it.
